Featured Theft Recovery - Motorcycle
Jacksonville, FL & Myrtle Beach, SC – Find It Now USA (FIN) theft recovery center received a call for a theft of a Slingshot from a rental company in Myrtle Beach. Then later, around 10:30pm the COO of FIN got a call from another Customer that happen to have his cell number and was advised of two Slingshots from his Rental Company in Jacksonville that were also taken. The vehicles were rented with what was eventually found to be fraudulent information. After being apprised of the unique situation, the FIN COO personally stayed on the phone for over 2.5 hours tracking the Slingshots from Jacksonville through Georgia, into Alabama, and ultimately recovered back in Columbus, Georgia.
Using the onboard FIN security device in each Slingshot, the vehicles were tracked, stopping at different gas stations along the way. Two Slingshots eventually stopped at a package liquor store where we were able to search for a phone number for the package store. A clerk at the liquor store was contacted in time for them to verify that the Slingshots were still there while one of the drivers stocked up on alcohol. The clerk dialed 911 and tried to stall the thieves while police were enroute. The thieves left with the police arriving shortly thereafter. FIN continued to track their movement and stayed on the phone with the dispatcher and police, relaying locations as the police followed close behind.
The thieves split up, and FIN focused on the Slingshot closest to the police, which then stopped at a residence in Columbus, Georgia shortly thereafter. Deputies arrived to not only find the Slingshot that they’d been following, but the other Slingshot with South Carolina tags. We were able to confirm with the Police on sight that it was in fact reported stolen and communicated the Owners name, which was confirmed. Two recovered with one more to go!
FIN continued to track the remaining stolen Slingshot and found that the thieves tried to hide it behind a closed business. Deputies arrived to find and recover the third stolen Slingshot. All 3 Slingshots were recovered free of any damage and back with the rightful owners. As of this writing, the investigation is still ongoing.
